RENO, NV, UNITED STATES, March 28, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — A spectacular lithograph on paper signed by the important Native American artist Tommy Wayne (“T.C.”) Cannon (1946-1978), titled Waiting for the Bus, Andarko Princess, sold for $12,500 at a five-day Wigwam Auction – a celebration of the country’s Great Basin Native American heritage – held March 7th-11th by Holabird Western Americana Collections in Reno.

The auction was conducted in Holabird’s gallery located at 3555 Airway Drive (Suite #308) in Reno, as well as online via iCollector.com and Invaluable.com. Headlining the event was the Moe and Mary Royels Great Basin Wigwam Collection. The items in the Royels’ collections reflect the rich history the state of Nevada enjoys in the unique place known as the Great Basin.

The Wigwam Collection is a fantastic array of Native American collectibles, art and artifacts. A number of items (mainly dresses) were made especially for Mary Royels, plus a few for Moe, by local Paiute friends. The collections included baby baskets, beaded baskets, art depicting early man in the Great Basin by William Moore, stone artifacts, moccasins and stone projectile points.

The T.C. Cannon litho, from 1978, was the auction’s top lot. Depicting a woman seated on a bench waiting for a bus, it was signed, numbered (#24/125) and embossed by the artist. The print was housed in a double mat frame, 37 inches by 30 inches. Another litho of the same work is on display at the Smithsonian Institute. Cannon, from Oklahoma, was a member of the Kiowa Tribe.

Day 1, on Thursday, March 7th, featured rare vintage bottles (165 lots); saloon items (9 lots); cowboy collectibles (34 lots); firearms and weaponry (26 lots); gaming collectibles (10 lots); and numismatic items, to include books, checks, coins, dies, ephemera, medals, “so-called” dollars, tokens and more. Over 500 lots – a full auction by itself – crossed the auction block on Day 1.

Day 2, March 8th, was packed with 550 lots of Americana, to include advertising, art, books and directories, calendars, Gold Rush, postal history, militaria, political lots, Wells Fargo & Express, silverware, flatware, non-mining stock certificates, toys and World’s Fair. A group of ten orange Republic of China 6% two-year secured gold loan treasury notes from 1919 gaveled for $6,562.

Day 3, March 9th, contained Part 1 of the Native Americana, to include artwork, apparel, gloves, moccasins, accessories, jewelry, trade beads, artifacts, pipes, dies and baby baskets. Also sold that day were 52 lots of artwork (including the T.C. Cannon litho), for a grand total of 604 lots.

Day 3 included an outstanding vintage Navajo Squash Blossom necklace boasting 16 beautiful turquoise nuggets from the #8 mine in Eureka county, Nevada ($2,500); and a high-quality serigraph by Franz Scholder, titled Indian with a Gun, #49/80, artist signed and 22 inches by 33 inches ($1,875). Scholder’s artwork is distinctive, colorful and very popular among collectors.

Day 4, on Sunday, March 10th, featured Part 2 of the Native Americana, to include pottery, baskets, dolls, books, photographs, postcards, rugs and weavings, ephemera and collectibles. Also offered were transportation (244 lots) and railroadiana (184 lots) – 301 total lots in all.

Day 4 featured a large, historical and possibly ancient cooking basket, 15 inches in diameter, not ceremonial, used for everyday cooking, found in northwest Nevada 50 years ago, never buried ($3,125); and a hand-woven Navajo rug with a tribal design, 39 ½ inches by 44 inches, made by America’s Natives from the Russell Foutz Indian Room in Farmington, New Mexico ($2,875).

A collection of 40 red Imperial Chinese government railway 100-pound bonds, issued in 1911 by the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corp. in London, hammered for $2,625. Also, an unissued, unsigned and uncancelled first mortgage 10% gold loan in the amount of $500 for the Gilpin County (Colo.) Tram Railway Co., with all ten coupons, printed circa 1871-1873, made $1,625.

A large, circa 1900-1910 Mono basket, 19 ½ inches tall, intended for utility or cooking but never used and probably made for sale to the Anglo market, displaying zig-zag patterns and classic Paiute four bi-symmetric starts, achieved $2,625; and a historic and possibly ancient flat cooking basket, 25 inches in diameter, possibly from Steamboat or McDermott (N.D.) realized $1,875.

A large, circa 1900 winnowing basket, 28 ½ inches long by 21 ½ inches wide, with open basket twining, utilitarian (but never utilized), a pine nut harvest relic from the Great Basin, finished at $1,750. Also, a camp-size, vintage Washoe water pack basket “Tus” in a sacred red ochre color, 20 inches tall, 12 inches diameter, with close twined willow and hemp handles, reached $2,000.

Day 5, on Monday, March 11th, will be dedicated to minerals (13 lots) and mining collectibles (578 lots). The mining portion will contain artifacts and assay, books, explosives, maps, mine lighting, signs, spoons, mining stocks, ephemera and collectibles – a dream day for collectors.

Top lots from Day 5 included a lavish hardcover prospectus ad accompanying map for the Keystone Silver Mining Company in Reese River, Nevada, from 1865, in pristine condition ($2,000); and an 1884 stock certificate for the Harmony Borax Mining Company (Death Valley, Calif.), early #23 for 18 shares, issued to a Mr. William T. Coleman, with signatures ($2,500).

Rich Results and Structured Data: The Future of Digital Marketing

Doctor Digital is here to amaze and astonish with a journey into the mysteries of yet another news article about quirks and qualities in Google search features!

WYNNEWOOD, PA, UNITED STATES, March 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — ++

Welcome back intrepid readers and searchers of the arcane secrets of SEO wizardry! Doctor Digital is here to amaze, astound and astonish with a journey into the mysteries of yet another news article about quirks and qualities in Google search features!

One of the fundamental principles behind what Doctor Digital and the Google Girls do at Results Driven Marketing is we ensure that the techniques and technology RDM uses in digital marketing campaigns are the best they can be. We’re talking top level entities taking on the titans of AI themselves. From deciphering Rankbrain to Enhancing Google My Business, RDM stays on top of it all. And this month we tackle Rich Cards.

And we’re here to elucidate and pontificate not a moment too soon, true believers! With the speed that the internet changes, keeping ahead of these trends takes dedication. It seems that once every year everything changes and what once drove your online presence to its peak is now dragging you down. A great example of this is that just a few years ago not having a mobile-friendly website wasn’t a big deal. Today that would be considered the death knell for your internet marketing campaign. Google will penalize your site in their Google search results for not taking a mobile presence, mobile speed, and mobile search into account.

It is in this vein that we shift our focus to the world of structured data and its little brother rich results.

Everyone who has been involved in a conversation about web marketing or SEO – from SERPS obsessive SEOs to Local Business Owners to Site Owners to Google Webmasters – has probably seen or heard something about Google’s new Rich Results Testing Tool.

Google announced the new tool in conjunction with its decision to group all of their terms, such as rich snippets and enhanced results under the umbrella of rich results.

Since its debut in 2018, there has been a deluge of information surrounding this new initiative by Google to bring the visual format of their SEO interpretation to the next level. Please join Doctor Digital as he delves into this new tool and the implications it will have for your business and online marketing presence.

Rich Results: What is Structured Data?

Like any good yarn worthy of spinning for eager listeners, we must start at the beginning. For those out there who are still in the prehistoric keywords can be stuffed onto a page era of SEO, here is a quick crash course in structured data markup.

This isn’t a technical white paper that focuses on machine language, markup languages, relational databases, business intelligence data structures, or relational database management systems. Doctor Digital is your SEO Super Hero and we’re here to focus on the keys to your online marketing, like customer behavior and easy to understand data management.

Structured data are snippets of metadata information that are encoded into a web page’s back end. But this far more intricate than just a basic meta description. These snippets of information, which can be created via JSON-LD, Microdata, or RDFa types, are designed to enable search engines like Google to better classify web pages for both desktop and mobile search results pages.

The best way to think about it is to imagine that your web page is an object that you are trying to describe to someone who has no frame of reference. For instance, if you were to explain to a blind person what a bicycle is you would start with the basic structure. Explaining that it consisted of wheels, handlebars, and a seat would be things that would help give a better context to establish that frame.

The same thing is true of a website and each page’s content. Structuring your data to give the object of your website specific types of clearly defined characteristics that potential customers may be looking for. A great example that has been used by many is a web page that contains a recipe. By giving that web page structured data that defines that recipes ingredients allow for that page to return not only for the recipe name but a new search result format that showcases its ingredients or cooking time.

The best place to learn more about structured data and schema markup is schema.org. Their homepage gives you the full rundown on what structured data is. They provide excellent examples of semantic web data sources and then provide large volumes of structured data examples to teach you how to code them.

Rich Results: What is a Rich Card?

Now that we’ve gone over the basics of what structured data is, let’s turn our attention to what Google calls rich cards.

These all began as rich snippets that showed authorship and star ratings next to books that got reviewed on Google. Users reacted favorably to these previews of their content on Google search pages and now new rich cards have exploded in variety, including accelerated mobile pages that display news articles differently in search, recipes that showcase recipe cards on search, and even job openings being displayed in their own area of Google search results.

A rich card is just another way of customizing your Google search result to further stand out from the pack. When you type a search into Google and the first page of results are returned you will most likely notice that there is a result pinned directly to the top of the page that is enclosed into a raised box.

This feature allows your result to stand out regardless of the platform your clients choose to search from. If you are viewing this on your laptop or desktop computer it will probably resemble a 3×5 index card. When viewed on a mobile device, the rich cards appear as stylized tiles, especially when the results are an amp page.

In addition to giving a more appealing visual to your results in the search window, structuring your data with a rich card in mind will also allow you to target your potential client base with greater precision. Using structured data as the backbone, rich cards will allow you to market directly to customers in the search results window. Embedded images and star ratings will make your website outshine the rest without the stigma that has become attached to pay-per-click advertisements.

Rich Results: What is the Testing Tool?

The success of Rich Snippets has sent ripples through the digital marketing industry. Hopefully, our discussion thus far has gotten you interested in diving into the cutting edge world of rich results for your Internet presence. Now that we’ve gotten your feet wet with an introduction to the hows and whys of rich results we turn our attention to the newly released Rich Results Testing Tool.

Google has long been steeped in search analytics, and data report driven marketing tactics. From Google new Search Console to Google AdWords Keyword reports, Google has committed to real-time performance monitoring across its channels. Testing and providing developer documentation for the structured markup of Google Rich Cards was no different, and Google created its new testing tool.

This is not to be confused with the tried and true Structured Data Testing Tool – one of Doctor Digital’s favorite tools in the whole wide universe of SEO.

Nay, the purpose of this new tool is different. The Rich Results Testing tool exists to allow companies like yours an easy and intuitive way to determine if their website is optimized with Rich Results in mind.

This new tool is the next step in the evolution of Google’s search engine algorithm. It functions as a sidekick to the structured data testing tool. It’s Robin to the SDTT’s Batman.

So while the structured data testing tool is useful mostly for determining issues with code samples of the website, the rich results testing tool is to be used for a quick assessment of whether your website supports rich results in the first place. The information that this provides will enable you to make increasingly accurate decisions on where your marketing dollars are best focused.

The interface came out of closed beta in a limited format, and only supported testing for recipes, jobs, moves, and online courses. But it was paramount in connecting the dots throughout Google’s other channels as it worked in conjunction with Google Search Console and its Search Console Rich Cards Report.

Rich Results: What are the Next Steps?

Like Google, RDM is constantly searching and exploring. We look to “boldly go where no one has gone before” with our marketing efforts and discover what’s next.

Too many things change in this industry too quickly for us to stay in one place. You’ll note that our entire exploration of Google Rich Snippets and Rich Cards was focused on search engine results from Google. This is because they are the leader in search as well as the types of rich snippets and featured snippets that are displayed on search engine results pages. However, all major search engines are involved and following Google’s lead, including Bing, Yahoo, and Yandex.

We here at Results Driven Marketing pride ourselves by not only tracking the marketplace but getting out in front of those innovations like this that will provide the most value to our clients. We understand that with trends moving faster every day, the importance of remaining current becomes secondary to leading the charge. While other companies are content to simply follow the current standards for things like search engine optimization, we are always striving to innovate the next big thing – like voice search. So if you’re tired of simply chasing the puck, why not give our Google girls and guys a call at 215-393-8700 and let us get you out in front.

Have any questions? Then contact us on our social media spaces like Facebook or Twitter. Ask us anything, be it how to code a span itemprop, what script type do we recommend for your structured data, is unstructured data harmful, what’s the best WordPress plugin for schemas, or do you even think structured data is a ranking factor that can affect clickthrough rate and SERP features? Doctor Digital is ready to heed the call!

We guarantee there is no better feeling than being ahead of the curve when the rest of the industry catches up.

Every year, restaurant industry insiders such as trade groups and publications speculate about the upcoming trends, here reviewed by consultant Cyrus Batchan.

Cyrus Batchan Business Consulting (N/A:N/A)

Staff turnover will be one of the most important issues the industry will have to address in the years to come. Each year brings new trends and challenges and 2019 will be no different.”

— Cyrus Leon Batchan, Business Consultant in Sherman Oaks

SHERMAN OAKS, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, March 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — What’s new in the restaurant industry? Cyrus Batchan shares his views in a new published article. The complete article is available on the blog for restaurant entrepreneurs of Cyrus Batchan at https://cyrusbatchan.blogspot.com/

One trend many industry experts see going forward is the continuing rise of smaller restaurants. These would include concepts such as counter dining, pop ups, open kitchens, and tasting menus. The smaller, more intimate format allows chefs to focus on creativity and allows them to be more spontaneous.

Another rising trend predicted by many is the consumer’s appetite for casual dining that is easy to take on the go. Concepts can run the gamut from easy take outs to home meal kits, any number of ways that would allow customers to enjoy a fine meal in the comfort of their own home. What sets apart these concepts from the traditional fast food or take out is the quality of ingredients and preparation. Consumers are increasingly seeking a combination of luxury, quality, and convenience, all in one package.

Diet trends will continue to be an important segment of the consumer base. With many consumers trying different diets with different restrictions, such as Keto, Paleo, as well as other famous well known dietary considerations, restauranteurs will have to consider how their menu can cater to the desires of these customers to eat out, but still keep to their dietary restrictions.

Sometimes, trends are not entirely predictable, and require some adjustments as the business develops. For example, see the story of the popular vegetable-focused Los Angeles restaurant PYT:

“Downtown vegetable paradise PYT is set to close early next month. … The decision to hand over control of PYT comes at the end of a long, winding road for the corner location. For years it was staple neighborhood spot Pete’s Cafe, before Centeno took over as executive chef in October of 2014. He eventually flipped the whole restaurant to a new concept called Ledlow Swan (and then just Ledlow) before bifurcating the dining room to create PYT. … As for those new tenants, it looks like Francis Miranda and Cyrus Batchan are taking over. Their restaurant group No. 8 (Lock & Key) is coming on board with expectation for a quick flip of the whole space, though they won’t say yet just what the food will look like or who will be cooking. It’s worth noting that the pair are also co-owners and managing partners in Mei Lin’s Downtown project Nightshade …” See news report in Eater Los Angeles, https://la.eater.com/2019/2/25/18240275/pyt-closing-downtown-josef-centeno-new-owners-coming-nightshade

Ever increasing variety of ethnic foods will continue to enrich the restaurant scene. Latin American cuisine continues to grow in popularity in the US, growing beyond just the familiar Mexican cuisine. Israeli foods and Balkan fares are also growing in popularity as well.

Third party delivery companies, such as Grubhub and Uber Eats and increasing roster of startups in the field will continue to act as a bridge between restaurants and consumers at home. The field is fast changing, with different companies trying different strategies to outshine the competition while finding ways to provide value to their customers and also maintain profitability. These delivery services will continue to find greater foothold within the average consumer’s dining habits.

Behind the scenes, the industry will have to continue to grapple with how to manage staff turnovers. Restaurant industry continues to have one of the highest industry employee turnover rates at 73 percent.

Restaurateurs are trying variety of approaches, such as increased benefits, mentoring, and creating a more inclusive culture among the staff. Staff turnover will be one of the most important issues the industry will have to address in the years to come. Each year brings new trends and challenges and 2019 will be no different. Industry veterans and rookies alike will have to grapple with the ever-changing trends in the restaurant industry.

Abraham Kiswani shares career highlights following 20 years in the security field

Abraham Kiswani

Abraham Kiswani reflects on a selection of career highlights after more than two decades working in the security sector.

BURBANK, ILLINOIS, USA, March 25, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — A certified security contractor, Abraham Kiswani is a professional Taser trainer and security sector consultant in the process of becoming a licensed private investigator. Reflecting on a number of career highlights, Kiswani shares an insight into his 20 years of experience working within the security field.

"With more than 20 years of safety and security expertise, I'm a certified Taser training professional and security consultant," explains Kiswani, "with a personal passion for sports, cooking, and antique muscle cars."

Qualified to teach approved courses focused on hands-on Taser training, practical knowledge, and the real-life scenarios where Taser devices may make a life-saving difference, Illinois-based Kiswani explains more about the process. "Open to licensed security experts and employees only, professional Taser training covers technology, medical and safety information, legal issues, and tactical considerations," reveals the security sector veteran.

Certified for more than 5 years to teach both civilians and specialists in Taser usage, Abraham Kiswani is well-versed in the necessary drills, including both firing and non-firing drills, isolation exercises, and stress courses.

Further to achieving professional Taser training certification, a major highlight of Kiswani's career, he says, has been his and his company's charitable efforts. "We support a number of charities, organizations, and other good causes," explains the security consultant, "including the Tuskegee NEXT project."

Honoring the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen—the popular name of a group of African-American military pilots who fought in World War II—Tuskegee NEXT transforms the lives of 'at-risk' youngsters through aviation-related education and by shaping career opportunities, according to the organization. "The Tuskegee NEXT project does so," Kiswani adds, "so that, via a program of education, and through creating an abundance of desirable career paths, these youngsters can help to transform their communities."

The project, he says, is wholly committed to both changing lives and transforming communities, as well as ensuring the future of the aviation and airline industries.

Kiswani's company is also dedicated to a number of charitable initiatives centered around the holiday season, giving away over 3,000 fresh turkeys to lower-income families for the past nine years. "It's a wonderful feeling," he reveals, "to be able to give something back to the community as a part of what I do for a living."

"Another professional highlight," Kiswani adds, wrapping up, "has been the process of becoming a licensed private investigator, something which I'm currently undertaking and which I have long been passionate about and excited to pursue."

Based in Burbank, Illinois, and a graduate of Alan B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights, certified security contractor Abraham Kiswani's personal interests—further to sports, cooking, and antique muscle cars—include movie memorabilia collecting, vehicle rebuilding, scuba diving, skydiving, and softball.

'Taser,' or 'TASER,' also commonly referred to as 'TASER Self-Defense,' is a brand of conducted electrical weapons, supplied by Axon, formerly TASER International. 'TASER Self-Defense' is a division of Axon Enterprise, Inc., a publicly traded company headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona.
