Fogo de Chão Announces New Jersey Restaurant at Freehold Raceway Mall

Internationally renowned Brazilian steakhouse expands New Jersey footprint with new Freehold restaurant

DALLAS, Aug. 19, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fogo de Chão, the internationally renowned restaurant founded in Brazil over 46 years ago and known for its elevated churrasco dining experience, today announced the signing of a lease agreement at Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold, New Jersey. Located at 3710 Route 9, within the Outdoor Village by the Center Court Entrance, the approximately 8,000-square-foot restaurant will mark Fogo’s continued expansion in New Jersey and advance the brand’s strategic U.S. expansion.

“We’re thrilled to continue our growth in New Jersey with the opening of our newest restaurant at Freehold Raceway Mall,” said Barry McGowan, Chief Executive Officer of Fogo de Chão. “As one of the region’s premier shopping and lifestyle destinations, the center aligns perfectly with our upscale dining experience and commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality. We look forward to introducing guests to the warmth, tradition, and refined culinary excellence of Southern Brazil that have defined our brand for more than 46 years.”

Owned and operated by Macerich, Freehold Raceway Mall is home to more than 190 retailers, restaurants and entertainment destinations and is one of New Jersey’s most visited shopping centers. Located within driving distance of both the Jersey Shore and New York City, the center continues to evolve and attract leading retail, dining and entertainment brands, further strengthening its position as the premier shopping destination in Central New Jersey.

“We’re thrilled to have Fogo de Chão joining Freehold Raceway Mall,” said Eric Bunyan, Senior Vice President, Leasing, Macerich. “Fogo is a well-respected brand with a loyal following, and we’re confident it will resonate with both our local community and visitors. We’re looking forward to seeing the restaurant become part of the mall’s continued growth."

The new Freehold location is part of Fogo’s accelerated growth strategy in 2026, and follows the recent announcement of a new restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina, as well as the upcoming opening of the brand’s first North Carolina restaurant in Charlotte this August. Fogo’s development pipeline also includes strategic domestic and international openings in markets such as Las Vegas, Nevada; Peabody, Massachusetts; Tegucigalpa, Honduras; and more.

The new restaurant will showcase Fogo’s enhanced design and innovation platforms, offering a warm, timeless and approachable setting where guests enjoy a 360-degree view of an open churrasco grill and can watch Gaucho Chefs butcher, hand carve and grill high-quality cuts of protein over an open flame.

The Freehold Raceway Mall location marks Fogo de Chão’s latest collaboration with Macerich, following recent announcements including new restaurants at Crabtree in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, New York.
