Senior Spotlight: Erin Bailey

Erin Bailey plays volleyball for Indiahoma Lady Warriors and is an outside hitter.

“I started playing volleyball when I was in 7th grade, and it just became something I just absolutely love. It's just always been there,” she said. “Like if I was upset, I'd play volleyball. If I wanted to hang out with friends, we'd play volleyball. It's just something that's always been a constant, and I just really enjoy it.”

Bailey also participates in FFA where she keeps records of the meetings and history of the organization.

“I had a mandatory class in 8th grade, and it just caught my eye, and my best friend showed animals,” she said. “So, I'm curious about that, and it sounds interesting, so I wanted to continue it, and it's just something I like.”

Bailey said a personal highlight is improving her hitting.

“I learned how to hit really well this year, and it's just been something that's been the best that I've done,” she said.

Bailey said she’s going to miss the school environment.

“With it being a small school, everybody knows each other, and it's just like we're a big old family. I'm going to miss the people, the way we support each other, and the way we're there for each other. It genuinely feels like a family. It just feels like home,” she said.

Bailey is going to head into the workforce after graduation.

“I want to go to college to do something with culinary because I've always wanted to be a chef,” she said.

Bailey said her uncle is a chef, and she has always looked up to him.

As for Bailey’s favorite food to make…

“Spaghetti and meatballs,” she said.

There are a variety of ways Bailey keeps in touch with her heritage.

“I go to the fair, and I try to go to all the powwows, and I just try to keep in touch. I'll make ribbon skirts with my grandma. I want to learn how to bead, and I'm going to try to get with my grandma…about that,” she said. “She beads really well, and I want to learn how to so I can teach my kids when I have them how to bead so they can keep in touch with their heritage too.”

Bailey is grateful she has people to teach her, as others may not.

Bailey also enjoys painting the things around her and building Legos.
